About the Treatment
The Blue Radiance Peel from Obagi is a quick and non-invasive treatment consisting of salicylic acid that helps improve overall complexion. The peel is designed to improve a variety of skin conditions including acne scars, melasma and sun damage (e.g., wrinkles, visible lines, uneven skin tone and pigmentation). Obagi’s Blue Radiance Peel is safe for all skin types and tones, as it is custom-made to fit each patient’s needs. The treatment requires no downtime and can be performed in about 30 minutes. In fact, the Blue Radiance Peel is one of Dr. Magilke’s patients’ most popular “lunchtime” treatments.
To prepare you for treatment, a member of our team will thoroughly cleanse your face and apply the Obagi Radiance Peel Prep Solution to your skin. Once the solution has dried, your skin specialist will apply the first layer of the Blue Radiance solution to the treatment area. Your skin care specialist may reapply the solution several times, depending on your skin’s sensitivity and the severity of your skin condition. The product may remain on the skin for up to 12 minutes. The peel is then removed using a gentle cleanser and the face is rinsed with water. To protect your skin following treatment, we will apply a non-chemical sunscreen to your face. Immediately after your treatment, you will notice your skin looks younger, smoother and tighter.
After Treatment
Obagi’s Blue Radiance Peel is gentle, but even so, some patients may experience redness with mild peeling after the treatment. You will continue to see your results improve for the next seven to 10 days, after which your skin should be completely healed. To achieve best results, you will need to protect your skin from sun exposure. While you will notice your skin looks younger and smoother after one treatment, four to six treatments are recommended in order to achieve optimal results.
