Mark J Mertens, MD is chief of anesthesia services at Portland Face Doctor. He is a founding member of Oregon Anesthesiology Group and a Diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology. He has been an ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) instructor since 1982, and continues to teach at PCC-Climb.
Mark is a native of the Pacific NW. He is a graduate of Portland State University, and received his M.D. from OHSU. In addition to his anesthesia residency, he completed a fellowship in pediatric anesthesia. He joined the Legacy Emanuel Hospital staff in 1985, where he worked for over twenty years. He joined Portland Face Doctor in 2007, and now primarily concentrates on outpatient anesthesia care. “Through the years, the camaraderie in the office has been stellar. When Dr. Mertens is not treating patients, he enjoys spending time traveling and entertaining with his wife, Meg, their four children, and four grandchildren. He also is an avid golfer and rose gardener.
